AI Systems Integration

Your systems, your data, an assistant that can actually reach them

Most organisations now have AI. Very few have AI that can see anything. The assistant sits in a browser tab with no access to the finance system, the case management system, the document store or the last four years of institutional knowledge. It writes confident text about nothing in particular.

The AI Layer fixes the connection. We wire an assistant into your actual systems, set the rules for what it may read and what it may do, and put an audit trail behind it. For engineering teams we do the same for delivery: Claude Code, custom tooling and MCP servers against your own codebase and pipelines.

How the AI Layer connects your team to your systemsYour team connects to the AI Layer, which uses Model Context Protocol connectors to reach four business systems: finance, CRM, case files and documents.Your teamThe AI LayerMCP connectorsFinanceCRMCase filesDocuments
Without the layer, the assistant sits in a browser tab with no reach into any of this.

What We Deliver

  • MCP servers connecting AI assistants to finance, CRM, case management and document systems
  • Organisational knowledge bases so staff can question your own documents and records
  • Orchestration across several systems at once, with approval checkpoints and full logging
  • Claude Code and AI-assisted delivery adoption for software teams, including custom skills and subagents
  • Access governance: what the assistant may read, what it may change, and what gets recorded
  • Estate assessment: where AI genuinely fits, and where it does not

Engagements & Pricing

Clear deliverables, timelines, and investment levels. No hidden costs.

Run and Hold

Ongoing governance, iteration and ownership as your systems and staff change. Monthly reporting on what the layer is actually doing.

£1,500 a month1.5 effort days a month · 6-month minimum

Engagements are fixed-price against a stated effort estimate. Effort is what we commit to deliver in, not a day count we bill against. All prices exclude VAT, charged at the prevailing rate.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is MCP, and why does it matter?

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to external systems and data. Before it, every AI-to-system connection was bespoke. With it, one connector can be reused across tools and models. Practically, it is the difference between an assistant that talks about your business and one that can read your records, draft against them and take actions you have authorised.

How is this different from Microsoft Copilot, which we already pay for?

Copilot is strong inside the Microsoft estate: Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word. It is weak or absent outside it. Most businesses keep the things that matter somewhere else, in a finance package, a practice management system, a bespoke database or a line-of-business application nobody has touched in years. The AI Layer reaches those. We also build Copilot Studio agents, so if Copilot is the right answer we will tell you and build that instead.

How is this different from your AI Agent Development service?

AI agents run a process on their own, unattended, and replace work people used to do. The AI Layer augments the people you have by connecting them to their own systems through an assistant. Agents are bought as an outcome. The AI Layer is bought as a capability. Many clients end up with both.

How much does connecting AI to our systems cost?

The AI Layer Sprint is £10,000 fixed: ten working days, one process and one working feature in production, governed, logged and handed over with documentation. Run and Hold is £1,500 a month on a six-month minimum, covering governance, iteration and monthly reporting on what the layer is actually doing. Model and API running costs sit with you and are modelled before the sprint starts. Public sector buyers purchase via G-Cloud at SFIA rates rather than this ladder.

What efficiency savings can we expect?

We do not promise an efficiency percentage we cannot evidence. Most published AI savings figures apply a headline percentage to the wrong base, usually turnover rather than the labour cost of the specific processes affected, and the saving is only ever banked if freed capacity is genuinely redeployed. We would rather lose the sale than invent a number.

Where does our data go?

The connectors run inside your own environment against your own systems, using credentials you issue and can revoke. We scope exactly which systems and which records are in reach before anything is connected, and every action is logged. For AI processing we use commercial API terms that carry contractual no-training guarantees. We are Cyber Essentials Plus certified.

We are a public sector or NHS organisation. Does this pricing apply?

No. Public sector buyers purchase through our G-Cloud framework position at published SFIA rates, not through this ladder, and the engagement includes the information governance work that setting applies: DPIA support, data flow mapping and, where clinically relevant, DCB0129 and DTAC alignment. Contact us and we will route you correctly.
